CIO FORUM Company Information
General information
The CIO Forum was established at the end of 2007 as an academic CIO Forum to bridge the gap between academia and industry. It was aimed at developing a community to grow the research collaborations that would support the Master Information Officer (MIO) program which would be launched in 2009. In 2008, we started a series of cafe conversations through our Monthly CIO Breakfast Forums in Cape Town. The first six months dealt with skills development and internships.
After a call to action, the CIO Forum became engaged in local programs and initiatives in the Western Cape in 2010 and a skills development pilot in 2011 aimed at developing a model to create a pathway for creating software programmers, technical skills, software professionals and jobs for unemployed youths and graduates, particularly from disadvantaged and poor communities.
