Monteseel Adventures Company Information

General information

Our mission is to introduce those new to 4x4'ing (and 4x2 with diff-lock) and other like minded individuals to the natural open spaces in and around The Valley of a 1000 Hills and in this process create economic opportunities for the locals in the areas where we operate.

Speak to any Durbanite or other in KZN and ask them about the Valley of a 1000 Hills. Most will be able to give you a rough idea as to where it is and also maybe how to get there. What may surprise you is their description of your destination. Some would refer to the Inanda Valley, others will say it is in Botha's Hill or even Drummond. Whilst this is not entirely incorrect as these locations actually border on the valley, there is more to be seen inside the valley. Who has heard of Mfula Store? Most bikers have and it is a gem located next to the Umgeni River deep in the Valley. What about the Mqeku River Picnic Site, Sithumba, Ximba or Qhodela?

Heard about eMalangeni Hill? This is how Durban Green Corridor describes it - Durban folks often see photos here and there of (or hear rumors of) spots where you can see snow on the Drakensberg (in winter) and at the same time see the ocean and harbor …..this would be quite a site and yes, such a place really does exists. Emalangeni Hill, near Durban Green Corridor's Isithumba Adventure Centre is surprisingly easy to access, in fact it's even accessible by sedan car and probably less than a 30 minute drive from Botha's hill. The area includes some of the most dramatic scenery you will find in the Valley Of A 1000 Hills. The drive to the top of the hill takes you past some incredible rural settings, several taverns that will welcome you in like an old friend, deep gorges and views of the cascading rapids along the uMngeni River and some excellent bird watching along the way. On the drive up you also get spectacular views of Nagle Dam, Inanda Dam and the Duzi - uMngeni confluence. For those with more adventurous spirit, there is also a hair raising 4x4 track down one side of this hill which takes you back down to the Mfula Store area (Contact Jacques Malan for information on these 4x4 tracks) - bottom line, if you have not been up here, then you really have not seen what the Valley of a 1000 hills is really all about.

Don't forget to tell your buddies who own 4x4's about us as well. Cost of the trip is R550.00 per vehicle (this includes all family, friends, colleagues, mother-in-law, etc you can fit into your vehicle) and is limited to 10 vehicles per trip. Bookings can be made directly with Monteseel Adventures by emailing malanjj@mweb.co.za who will provide you with banking details and confirm your booking.
