2. OVERVIEW OF OUR PROJECTS:

HOPE BABIES (Established June 2004)
A safehouse where babies in need of refuge in terms of the Children’s Act are placed in our temporary care until they are adopted, placed in foster care under the supervision of a social worker, or reunited with their family under the supervision of a social worker. This safehouse has the capacity to provide a safe refuge for up to 12 babies at a time.

HOPE KIDS (Established July 2005)
This leg of House of Hope consists of three foster homes, House of Love, House of Joy, and House of Peace. We have a total of 20 children who live in these homes. We consider them our own and we provide for their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs the best we can. Their ages range between 9 years and 18 years.

HOPE LIFE (Established June 2008)
The Hope Life project includes the following programs:

a. Zoe Pregnancy Centre
Free pregnancy tests are offered to young girls and women. Counsellors assist woman with unintended pregnancies and offers them the needed support and counselling to explore their options and make an informed decision. Hope Life also offers pre- and post- abortion counselling and support.

b. Melita’s:
Rape and sexual violence crisis assistance offered by trained counsellors. Weekly support groups for the victims of sexual abuse and violence facilitated by trained counsellors.

c. HIV Prevention and Awareness Program
Outreaches to schools and awareness events. Education is done on HIV prevention, Sexual Reproductive Health, Gender Norms and Violence, and Teenage Pregnancy. As part of this program we started a community strengthening initiative, a Child Care Forum, which meets monthly. Various stakeholders are involved in advocating for the wellbeing of the children of the Greater Welkom, mobilizing resources towards the implementation of action plans aimed at addressing identified needs related to children, and strengthening and assisting one another.

HOPE SUPPORT (Established June 2014)
Hope Support is a loving solution for families who are confronted with challenging circumstances due to substance abuse. Hope Support is an empowerment group which meets weekly to offer support to both the person who struggled or is still struggling with substance abuse and their loved ones.
