BEFRIENDERS (UITENHAGE)

General information

The Befrienders are trained volunteers who offer free, confidential
emotional support to people who are lonely, anxious, depressed, despairing
or who are thinking of suicide. They may be contacted by telephone, by
correspondence or by face-to-face meeting. When relationships are
threatened, when there are problems with drugs or alcohol when there are
fears regarding AIDS, whenever someone feels isolated or alone with a
rpoblem, the Befrienders will listen with compassion and understanding.
Help is available during a crisis, as well as long-term support e.g. of
people who have been bereaved by suicide. Befrienders S.A. is affiliated to
Befrienders International.
