General information
The Pietermaritzburg Children's Home is the oldest children's home in the city with our roots being traced back to Miss Mary Elizabeth Cook in 1886. Today, we are the product of an amalgamation of the Hilltops home, Mary Cook and Mildred Ward, who in 1991 became P.C.H. We are a registered Non- Profit welfare organization that operates at 45 Teak Road, in Woodlands, Pietermaritzburg.
PCH provides residential care, management and treatment to children who have been removed from their homes and placed in our care by recognized legal procedures. The Child Care Program provided at PCH is in line with Section 191 of the Children’s Act of 2005. Individual counseling and reconstruction services are rendered by our social worker as part of the program. PCH also offers a life skills and educational program, career guidance training, recreational and spiritual activities.
