ACCEPTANCE FEE A non-refundable acceptance fee is payable immediately a pupil accepts the offer of a place in the School, and on return of the official Contract. This is calculated as 10% of the annual fee. Boarders include the boarding fee in this calculation. An additional R 500 is due by all pupils entering the High School in respect of membership to the Epworthian Society. Grades 1 – 7 R 4 020 per annum per pupil Grades 8 – 12 R 5 160 per annum per pupil PAYMENT OF FEES All fees are billed and payable by debit order monthly in advance over 12 months. Non-residents and those paying in foreign currency are not eligible to pay their fees by debit order. Those not able to pay by debit order are required to pay their fees quarterly in advance. Payment of fees must be made in accordance with specific terms laid down in the School's Debtors Policy. NON-RESIDENT'S SURCHARGE Non-resident's deposit: Two terms' fees in advance . This also applies to local parents paying in foreign currency. The problems experienced with rigid Exchange Control regulations necessitates a deposit of two term's fees (in addition to the usual acceptance fee) being lodged with the school before a pupil who is resident of a country outside of the borders of South Africa may be admitted to the school. There is an annual charge of R 2 500 per pupil payable by all pupils resident of countries outside the borders of South Africa to cover additional administration and academic costs. DEVELOPMENT LEVY This levy is used solely for the development of facilities, and is administered by representatives of the Trustees, the Parent Body, the Board of Governors and School Management. The levy will be R 5 500 per family for pupils from Grades 1 to 12. EPWORTH-ON-THE-MOVE, GRADE 8 INTEGRATED PROGRAMME and GRADE 10 VOGUE PROGRAMME Pupils in Grade 3 - 12 participate in some form of "tour" or overnight outing, or specialist educational programme, during the course of the school year. This is charged for at the time of the outing or programme. The school attempts to keep the charge for this as low as possible. TRANSPORT The school provides transport for day scholars to and from various venues in and around Pietermaritzburg each day. Transport is offered to boarders who reside in the Durban and Highway area at the beginning and end of each week. Details of these and the costs involved can be obtained from the Administration Office. DAY SCHOLAR LUNCHES Morning tea and compulsory lunch is provided to all High School pupils. Primary School pupils may order lunch, should they so wish, on a quarterly basis only. Charges are available on request from the Finance Department, but equate to approximately R25.00 per day. INSURANCE and MEDICAL AID Parents are requested to ensure that their children are members of a medical aid scheme and provide the school with their medical aid details. Personal Accident insurance is compulsory for all pupils, and details are available from the school. The 2018 premium will be approximately R 320 per pupil, per annum. Parents are requested to ensure that all their children's possessions are insured under their own personal insurance policies. The school will not be held liable for theft/ loss of pupils' possessions from school. I.E.B. EXAMINATIONS (Matrics only) The cost will be charged over 4 terms in the same manner as fees. The 2018 cost will be R 6 100 per pupil for seven subjects. Additional charges will be incurred for additional subjects, at the rate of R 950 per subject. Advanced Programme Mathematics and Advanced Programme English are charged at a rate of R 875 per subject. PRIMARY and PRE-PRIMARY AFTERCARE Aftercare is offered for pupils in Grades RRR to 7 and is charged monthly as follows: Aftercare is offered for pupils in Grades RRR to 7 and is charged monthly as follows: Gr RRR-R: 12:15 – 14:30 = R 25, 12:15 – 16:00 = R 35, 12:15 – 17:00 = R 45 Grades 1-2: 14:15 – 15:15 = R 25, 14:15 – 16:15 = R 35, 14:15 – 17:15 = R 45 (regardless of any activity/sport done) Grades 3-7: 14:15 – 15:15 = R 25, 14:15 – 16:15 = R 35, 14:15 – 17:15 = R 45 (regardless of any activity/sport done) 17:15 Late penalty = R 100 Parents are requested to provide lunch and afternoon tea for their children ANCILLARY COSTS All other costs such as work books, music lessons, ballet, horse-riding, outings and camps, non-compulsory academic activities, extra lessons, shop purchases etc. are charged individually as they are incurred. Charges for extra lessons and extra-mural activities are available on request. An administration fee of 10% is charged on all items of a personal nature charged to a pupil's school account e.g. medical and travel costs. PARENTS' ASSOCIATION LEVIES The Parents' Associations of each school charge a levy annually in lieu of fund-raising. This is agreed on each year at their respective Annual General Meetings in February, and debited in 2 instalments during the course of the year. The 2018 levies will be in the region of R 350 per family per school. HOUSE FUNDS All High School pupils are required to pay an amount of R 80 each towards their House funds. This is charged to their school account in the first term. SIBLING ALLOWANCES An allowance of 10% on tuition fees from Grades 1 to 12 will be granted on the fees of the second and each subsequent child coming from the same family, provided that such child does not enjoy any other form of fee assistance, and for as long as 2 or more children from the same family are Grade 1-12 pupils in the school concurrently. EARLY SETTLEMENT DISCOUNT Parents who pay the published annual fees for a particular year IN FULL before the start of school in January of that year are entitled to a discount, currently 2.5%. Any queries in this regard should be addressed to the Business Manager. BURSARIES Limited bursaries are available annually for existing parents requiring financial assistance with their fees. Applications for renewal are required each year and awards are made strictly on a needs basis. All bursary applications are highly confidential and application forms can be obtained from the Business Manager. SCHOLARSHIPS Scholarships are awarded to pupils entering Grade 8. These may be awarded for academic, sporting or cultural excellence. The Scholarship/Entrance examinations are written in the second term of the pupil's Grade 7 year.
