General information

MBAS recognises the need amongst Matie students to share their passion for craft beers and gain greater insight into micro-brewing
processes and the micro-brewing industry.
MBAS therefore establishes itself to increase awareness of and promote the appreciation and
exploration of craft beers amongst Matie students; and to foster the art and science of brewing quality beer on a small scale.

Quality craft beer and micro-brewing depends on skilful application of procedure, creativity of purpose, and freshness and quality of raw
ingredients. Toward this end, MBAS's mission will embody the following
cannons:

- To empower students to practice craft brewing

- To create an arena where students can collaborate and co-operate in a society where the art of micro-brewing can be acquired, practiced and perfected

- To encourage and facilitate education about craft beers and microbrewing

- To provide technical advice and skills development in regard to beer styles, brewing techniques, and beer quality evaluation

- To run intra-society competitions to both aid in brewing better beers and develop judging skills

- To serve as a buying agent of the finest brewing equipment and ingredients available, and make these goods available to all society
members

- To emphasise the use of Reinheitsgebot procedures, using organic products only, and adopting sustainable economic models and
encourage all members to develop these skills

- To introduce members to the economics of sustainable small scale micro-brewing
