There are few places on earth that contain more contrasts and contradictions, unexpected beauty, irrepressible style and sheer inventiveness than South Africa’s townships.
Township® celebrates the creativity and spirit of township life at its most colourful. Our range of bags and accessories – for men, women and kids – features unique township-inspired prints developed by founder Nicole-Marie Iresch, in collaboration with the legendary École Duperré School of Applied Arts in Paris.
All Township® items are lovingly handcrafted in Cape Town, largely by independent sewing co-ops in township communities.
Township® bags and accessories are available at our retail outlet in The Watershed, South Africa’s premier shopping destination for African craft and design – located at Cape Town’s V&A Waterfront – and via a number of global stockists. Our online store at www.township.co.za is launching soon.
Township® is a member of the World Fair Trade Organization.
