MBBCh (Wits) Mmed Neurol (Wits)FC Neurol (SA) - Dr Anderson is a Specialist Adult Neurologist who completed his undergraduate degree at the University of the Witwatersrand. He then completed his Neurology training at the Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg hospital. He has a special interest in the treatment of epilepsy and movement disorders.

In 2009 Dr Anderson took over the running of the Johannesburg Epilepsy Monitoring Unit. He completed his Electrophysiological training at the Cleveland Clinic in the United States and now uses the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit to treat patients with refractory epilepsy.

Dr Anderson is a member of the Movement Disorders Society and the European Huntington’s disease network. He has a special interest in Parkinson’s disease and runs the Deep brain stimulation unit in Johannesburg. For the last five years he has coordinated the multidisciplinary team involving neurosurgeons, neuropsychologists, electrophysiologists and radiologists.

Dr Anderson also has a special interest in Huntington’s disease and is currently doing his PhD in Huntington’s disease and Huntington’s disease like 2 and he runs the Huntington’s disease clinic at the Johannesburg hospital. He also has an interest in Parkinson’s disease and exercise and does collaborative research work with the University of Johannesburg. As part of his academic responsibilities he also teaches at the University.
